Zenith 135, chronometer icon from 50ies, black dial, screw case!!
Zenith 135 steel chronometer in the most sought after version: black dial with silver dauphine-hands, screw case!! This movement is one of the most famous and aesthetic movements ever built. Only around 10000 were produced by Zenith in the 50ies and early 60ies, but they were not all fitted into cases!
This watch is in outstanding condition as you can see on our fotos, just serviced by our watchmaker, everything original, signed crown. Movement in like new condition! The screw cases were a little bigger than the snap back cases, so this watch has an diameter of around 36mm!
An icon of watchmaking!
The crunch point with Zenith 135 watches are the delicate movements which are often corroded or scratched by unqualified watchmakers over the decades.
With cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and cam-type patented regulator. Besides its large size and general high quality of design and execution, there seems to be at least a couple of notable features to this movement. Of particular interest is the distinctive arrangement of the gear train wherein the minute wheel is placed off-center, thus allowing exceptionally large balance and barrel, manual wind.
A wonderful piece of history!
