Zenith 135 chronometer, Port Royal, 18 ct. Gold from late 50ies, like new !
This is a Zenith 135, an icon of watchmaking from late 50ies in the most expensive execution called „Port Royal“. This type was limited to a very small number of items! Very heavy 18 ct. gold case with snap back and a very luxurious dial with gold hands and gold indexes.
This movement is one of the most famous and aesthetic movements ever built. Only around 10000 were produced by Zenith in the 50ies and early 60ies, but many were not fitted into cases. With cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and cam-type patented regulator. Besides its large size and general high quality of design and execution, there seems to be at least a couple of notable features to this movement. Of particular interest is the distinctive arrangement of the gear train wherein the minute wheel is placed off-center, thus allowing exceptionally large balance and barrel, manual wind. The whole watch is in a stunning like new condition.
